Reveal of the Falcon 7x, Dassault Aviation, February 2005

In this event, we suggested making a show giving the audience the impression of sliding, little by little, from the virtual to the real world. The audience progressed gradually from the industrial 3D world (Catia) to a more poetic view of the plane (through an indoor hyperrealistic journey as an imaginary passenger), and ended by seeing landscape reflected on the body of the plane representing a virtual flight.

Inauguration of the Falcon 7X, latest in the Dassault Aviation range of businees jet.

This took place on the February 15th at Bordeaux Merignac. In front of an audience of ministers, members of parlement and 800 customers.

There were three world firsts which were:

- The use of the biggest 3D Screen in the world

- The use of 3DHD video using two 25k lumens videoprojectors and a V1HD 3D.

- And notably the use of augmented reality (projection of images on the plane surface).

After having projected a 3D high definition movie on a giant screen, the latter went up without being noticed by the audience and left a new screen: the plane itself.

A three minute sequence of augmented reality showing various features of the structure and systems of the plane was shown to the audience. After this sequence, the virtual body of the the plane could be seen and the Falcon 7X took off for the first time, virtually, with images of the countryside flowing along the body of the plane.

The programming of the stereoscopy and registration used in augmented reality were home made enabling us to control artistic effects better. Not only is this better but it offers more scope for innovation and makes vizualisation more confortable.
